Abstract (EN)
The objective of this thesis is to study whether there is a relationship between depressive symptoms with the perception of parental acception-rejection, resilience and the ways of coping among the individuals at the age of 20-40. The additional objective is to study if it differs between depending on demographic variables, which are age, gender, the number of siblings, average income, mother's working statue, mother's educational level, father's educational level and loss of mother and father. The sampling of this study comprises of 726 participants 377 of whom are female and 349 are male. The scale used in order to test the data related to depressive symptoms is 'Beck Depression Inventory', for perception of parental acception-rejection 'Parental Acception-Rejection Questionnaire Short Scale, for psycological resilience 'Ego-Resilience Scale', for ways of coping with stress ' Ways of Coping Stress Inventory', and the data related to demographic questions have been collected with the questionnaire prepared by the researcher. According to the results of the thesis, % 34, 2 of the participants show depressive symptoms. Individuals who perceived rejection from their mother and father, have much more depressive symptoms in comparison with the individuals who do not perceived rejection. Individuals who have depressive symptoms tend to use emotion focused coping, on the other side individuals who have not depressive symptoms tend to use problem focused coping. Individuals who do not have depressive symptoms have higher resilience scores in comparison with the individuals who have depressive symptoms. When the individuals depressive symptoms have been increased the points of maternal rejection, paternal rejection, emotion focused coping (submissive and helpless style) have been increased. On the other hand when the individuals' depressive symptoms have been increased; resilience, problem focused coping (optimistic, self-confident and seeking of social support styles) have been decreased. Within the individuals depressive symptoms and resilience, perception of maternal acceptance-rejection, perception of paternal acceptance-rejection, problem focused coping and emotion focused coping, all of the total coefficient of multiple correlation has been found 0,644 and the relation of dependent and independent variable can be stated at a medium level. It has been observed that the individuals' resilience, perception of maternal acceptance-rejection, perception of paternal acceptance-rejection, emotion focused coping and problem focused coping is explained to be %42 of depressive symptomsIt has been observed that individuals' depressive symptoms are meaningfully and statisticaly influenced in terms of maternal rejection, helpless, optimistic, self-confident styles and seeking of social support. According to Beta coefficient, it has been claimed that the most important nusiance variable is helpless style. A very meaningfully and statisticaly difference has been found in terms of the age of individuals, gender, economic statue and mother loss.
