The development of Turkish graphic design in 2000s

During history, it has been observed that political developments affect economic developments directly and technology maintains its improvement in a parallel way to economy. All these factors direct the development of graphic design process which is a very important mass media tool. Thus, in 2000s within the context of the thesis study, which researched the development of turkish graphic design, all these factors' effects were investigated and in addition to the literature review the opinions of designers and educators were utilized. In the first part of the thesis study, the developments in Turkish graphic design until 2000 are examined by considering political, economic and technological process in four different periods; the time before the Republic and the first years of the Republic, the multiparty system between 1950-1960, the planned economy between 1960-1980 and the foreign capital between 1980-2000. The developments in 2000s are also mentioned in the second part in the light of economic and technological developments of that period. The second part consists of three sub-headings; the first heading includes the economic, technological and design developments; the second heading includes the graphic design education; and the third heading includes the views of designers and educators who continued their studies in the graphic design field in the 2000s. In this section, the current situation of graphic design industry and education is examined in detail, besides problem detection and new suggestions about the future of graphic design have been tried to be created.
