Turkey-Iraq relationship after USA's invasion of Iraq

Turkey is located between Balkans, Caucasus, and Middle East where junctions continents and cultures. It has been an area of many conflicts and wars during the history. This region has taken attention of the world one more time with the invasion of IRAQ by the USA. It seems that Turkey will face many problem originated by the region many of which will be about Iraq and its surroundings.The region of Iraq was first met with Turks in 694. Turks ruled the region between 1055 and 1916. Relationship between people of Iraq and Turkey has been strong but cultural and economic and political relations have been fluctuating. Especially with the last invasion of Iraq not only Iraq but also the rest of the whole region was affected and the stability was destroyed. In this war environment Turkey get its share and hit by devastating effect of terrorism. Level of terrorism raised because the conditions were easing the grow terrorism. Turkey also effected economically because the oil pipeline was closed and the border trade was interrupted. Also Turkish origin people of Iraq have been facing with different problems day by day. In summary especially in the last decades Iraq became more important in Turkey?s foreign policy comparing to the previous ones.The relationship between two neighbor countries Iraq and Turkey were examined in this study, especially new developments starting with the invasion of Iraq current conditions and possible future conditions were evaluated.Keywords: Middle East, USA, Iraq, United Nations, United Nations Security Council, Oil, Weapons of Mass Destructions.
