Evaluation of treatment related cardiological complications of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in remission after treatment completed between 2010-2020

Abstract (EN)
In our study, we aimed to evaluate the treatment-related cardiological complications of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patients in remission whose treatment was completed. For this purpose, cardiological examinations performed routinely ALL patients with follow-up in Gaziantep University Medical Faculty Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Outpatient Clinic and recorded in the out patient clinic files were retrospectively analyzed. The data were obtained by examining the files taken from the archive of Gaziantep University Medical Faculty Hospital. Of all the patients, 30% were 5-9 years old, 46,4% were 10-14 years old, 23,6% were ≥15 years, 55,5% were boys and 45,5% were girls. 20,9% of them were in SRG, 60,9% in IRG and 18,2% in HRG risk class. 53,6% of the patients received radiotherapy, 46,4% of patients didn' t receive radiotherapy. In our study, posteroanterior chest radiography, electrocardiography, echocardiography, holter ecg, blood pressure holter and blood tests (Troponin-I, NT-proBNP, creatine kinase, ferritin, CRP, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglyceride, homocysteine) methods were applied to our patients we examined the late cardiac effects of anthracycline treatment. In our study, no significant relationship was found between gender, anthracycline dose and RT and the development of cardiotoxicity. In conclusion, periodic cardiological evaluation of patients in remission who were diagnosed with ALL and completed maintenance therapy, and early diagnosis and treatment in terms of possible cardiotoxicity are important.
