Abstract (EN)

Whether international society recognizes military coup as a legitimate action or not is a variable, that should be taken into consideration in the success of military coups as much as the influence of coup's legitimacy in the perception of the people. Therefore, other states' political support is of vital importance both for coup plotters and those who are in power and attempted to be overthrown. Political relations are reshaped also after coup attempt in framework of other states' support or opposition. In this context, this study aims to identify and analyze the influence of the coup attempt realized in Turkey on 15 July 2016 on Turkish foreign policy in regard to Turkish-Western relations. The negative attitudes of the Western states during and after the coup attempt and the reflections of their political preferences on Turkish Foreign Policy are discussed in the axis of the weakening of Western-centered politics.
