24 January 2020 effects of Elazığ-Sivrice earthquake in Malatya province

The research area, Malatya, was established in the Upper Euphrates Section of the Eastern Anatolia Region, in the south of the Malatya Basin, on the slopes of Beydağları. Due to its location, Malatya is affected by earthquakes on the East Anatolian Fault Zone in the south and the Malatya Ovacık Fault Zone in the west. This location of Malatya has caused it to be affected by major earthquakes in the past. Finally, on January 24, 2020, in the 6,5-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Çevrimtaş village of the Sivrice district of Elazığ, 4 people lost their lives in Malatya and 6863 building was heavily damaged. Since Doğanyol was close to the epicenter of the earthquake, all of the old structures here were destroyed.
