Examination of burnout and depression levels in women aged 25-55

Aim: The aim of this research is that being compared burnout and depression levels of women between ages of 25 and 55. In this study, burnout and depression levels of married and single women are examined from the points of age, marital status, number of children owned, average monthly income and employment situation. Method: The population of this research consists of 503 volunteer women between the ages of 25-55 living in Istanbul. The data of this study were collected by "Personal Information Form, Short Version of Burnout, Marital Life Scale and Beck Depression Inventory". Kurtosis and skewness values were taken as basis to control the normal distribution of the data. To analyse the data, T-Test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used for independent samples from parametric tests. When variance analysis results were significant, Tukey test were used in order to find which variance created the difference. In cases where Tukey test did not work, Scheffe and LSD Test were used. IBM SPSS Statistic 27.0 program was used in analysis of data, and all analyses were tested at significance level of .05. Findings: It is seen that 223 (44.3%) of the women in the sample are married and 280 (55.7%) are single. The burnout scores of the participants between the ages of 25-35 were higher than the other age groups. It was observed that the depression and burnout levels of unemployed, monthly income of 2000-3000 and single women were higher. Result: As a result of the research, it has been found that there is a direct proportion between depression and burnout levels, and an inverse proportion between marital satisfaction and depression and burnout levels. This situation displays that marital satisfaction is negatively affected by depression and burnout. Key words: Analysis, depression, burnout
