Analysing 27 May coup in accordance with elite theories

In this thesis the coup 27 May is examined in accordance with elite theories. The main problem is how the bureaucratic, military and political elites in the context of the ruling elite are affected by the military coup and post-coup developments. In the study, the ruling elite consisting of bureaucratic, political and military elites; elite process, basic tendencies, positions in power relations and the effects of military coup on ruling elite is discussed. It was claimed that the dissolution process of the ruling elite bloc, which began just before 1950, when DP come into power, was accelerated by the actions of the DP and turned into disintegration after the military coup. While the positions of bureaucratic and political elites were weakened after the military coup, the military elites gained a strong position on political system. This situation is associated with effects of military government and the constitution enacted after military coup on ruling elite.
