Abstract (EN)

For formulaic words, language elements, many of which have gained meaning with the culture of the society to which they belong, but some of them are of universal nature, used for certain situations, can be formed as a single word as well as sentence, and facilitate communication. From the moment individuals start to learn the language of the society to which they belong, the formulaics of the word develop at the same rate. When it is analyzed in terms of language teaching, it was observed that MEB (2019) Turkish teaching program related to the acquisition of formulaic words was not included in different education levels in Turkish Education programs for foreigners. Despite the absence of the acquisition item in the MEB Turkish curriculum on formulaic words, the purpose of the study is to determine the level of recognition of the formulaic words in Turkish language and their usage in written expression, since the formulaic words play an important role in communication. The research group consists of a total of 300 students in the city of Manisa, 148 of them living in city center and 152 of them living in countryside which are 149 males and 151 females, 152 of whom are residents in the city center. The students were determined from the public schools providing education in the city center and from the schools providing rural education in rural status before the metropolitan coverage, with a simple random method over the e-school registrations, so as not to disrupt the general work and functioning of the schools. In our study, the converging parallel mixed method was based, and the scanning model was used while creating a questionnaire, which is a data collection tool. Three expert opinions were consulted regarding the questionnaire developed to collect data. The survey was applied and scoring was carried out by three experts. The points determined by at least two specialists were evaluated and according to the results, it was tried to determine the familiarity of the words that are frequently encountered in Turkish speaking and writing language and to use them in written expression. As a result of the evaluation there was no significant difference in terms of gender in terms of the recognition of the 5th grade students, and it was observed that the students living in the city center were more successful than their rural peers. Considering the use of words in the written expression of the students, the female students say that the students residing in the city are more successful than the students living in the rural areas, but all students are not considered sufficient in written expression.
