Abstract (EN)

It is aimed that musical education given to school stuttering children aged 6-16 years develops the rhythm sensation of the children, followed by the arrangement of the speech rhythms to provide more fluent and natural speech. In addition, with the music lessons given in groups, it is aimed to get away from the stress environment of the child, to become more social, to get more comfortable speech in the community and to make the treatment process more efficient. The research was carried out by choosing volunteers who applied for stuttering treatment to the Phoniatry Unit of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Ege University Medical Faculty.A total of 39 children aged 6 to 16 years participated in the research. Of these children, 15 have fluent speech and 24 are stuttering. These stuttering children were separated into two groups by randomization method and the first group was treated only with stuttering and the second group was given music education in addition to the stuttering treatment. In the scope of music education, children have taken solfege, rhythm and percussion. In addition to talking therapy with stuttering children who were given only speech therapy, the evaluation and comparison of rhythm perception and changes in the treatment process in stuttering children who were given music education was done using SSI-4 and Rhythm Perception Test. The results were compared with the third group of children with fluent speech.Groups 1 and 2 participating in the study compared the total scores of SSI-4 and SSI-4 subscales and the Rhythm Perception Test before and after treatment and compared with the third group of children with fluent speech. Group 1 and Group 2 participated in the study were compared before and after treatment with total scores of SSI-4, SSI-4 subscales and Rhythm Perception Test between themselves and with the 3. group. As a result, differences were found in the SSI-4 subscales and the Rhythm Perception Test results. Therefore, we can say that children's music education gives children awareness of music and increases children's rhythm perception. As a result; the provision of music education to stuttering individuals in addition to classical treatments contributes to the socialization of the group with more training to make the individuals more fluent and most importantly to have a more natural speech in every sense, more willing and straightforward to the treatment process.
