Abstract (EN)

Aim: This research aims to determine the impact of ego resilience levels of children aged 60-72 months on their self-regulation skills. Material and Method: The study utilizes a relational survey model, a quantitative research method. The population of the study consists of children aged 60-72 months attending preschool education institutions in Siverek district of Şanlıurfa province, Turkey. The sample size was determined as 340 children through power analysis. Data were collected using a "Personal Information Form" filled out by parents, the "Child Ego Resilience Scale" and the "Self-Regulation Skills Scale for 4-6 Year Old Children (Teacher Form)" filled out by teachers. Data analysis employed correlation analysis, regression analysis, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and t-test techniques. Results: The overall mean score for ego resilience of 60-72-month-old children was found to be 5.36±0.89 (upper-middle level), and for self-regulation skills, it was 3.97±0.71 (upper-middle level). Ego resilience score averages were not significantly different based on gender, age, number of siblings, birth order, mother's education level, or father's education level. Self-regulation skills score averages showed significant differences based on gender, age, and mother's education level, but not based on number of siblings, birth order, or father's education level. There is a significant, moderate, positive relationship between the overall ego resilience scale and the overall self-regulation skills scale. There is also a significant, low, positive relationship between the overall ego resilience scale and the inhibitory control, attention, and working memory sub-dimensions. Conclusion: It is concluded that the ego resilience of 60-72-month-old children significantly predicts their self-regulation skills.
