Abstract (EN)

AİM:The effects of Antiadeziv substances Seprafilm, suprofilm, olive oil and olive oil + Vit. E are compared by measuring tensile forces.MATERIAL AND METHOD:60 male Sprague-Dawley albino rats were divided into six groups of ten. They were euthanasied ketamine-HCI.Cecum-and right anterior parietal peritoneum of the anterior abdominal wall were abraded with thin-wet sand (A955RC220).Group 1: (Sham), only the segments were taken out.Group 2: (Control) 3 cc 0.9% NaCl were given intraperitoneally.Group 3: (Sepra) 3x3cm Seprafilm was placed between the area of trauma and traumatized anterior abdominal wall.Group 4: (Supro) suprofilm placed in the same way.Group 5: (Olive Oil) 3 cc sterilized olive oil was given intraperitoneally.Group 6: (Olive Oil + Vit-E) 3cc sterilized olive oil and 20mg Vit-E was given intraperitoneallyThey were sacrificed with overdoze Ketamine-HCl and ether inhalation at post-op 14th day. Five of the region (incision, abdominal anterior wall traumatized area, omentum-cecum, the omentum-other organs, intestine-intestine), adhesions were evaluated. Adhesion strength was evaluated by dynamometer, 2x3 cm adhesion area was excised and histopathologically evaluated.RESULTS:The frequency of adhesion,Group 1: there was only one adhesion (1) %10 at the incision site.Group 2: there was (5) %50 at the incision site, (5) 50% at the anterior abdominal wall, (9) 90% between the omentum and cecum, (0) 0% between cecum and other organs, (5) 50% between the omentum and the intestine.Group 3: there was (2) %20 between anterior abdominal wall and intestine, (0)%0 between incision site, omentum and other organs, (10)%100 between omentum and cecum.Group 4: there was (2) 20% incisions and abdominal anterior wall, (6) 60% between omentum and cecum, (5) 50% between omentum and the other organs, (0) 0% between the intestine.Group 5: there was (3) 30% at the incision site, (4) 40% at the anterior wall, (9) 90% between omentum and cecum, (4) 40% between omentum and other organs, (1) 10% between the intestine.Group 6: there was (3) 30% at the incision site, (7) 70% at the anterior abdominal wall, (8) 80% between the omentum and cecum, (2) 20% between omentum and other organs,(0) %0 between intestine.Group-I stage-I (0.43 Newton), Group-II stage-IV (1.0540 N), Group-III stage-II (0.6370 N), Group-IV stage-II (0.5230 N), Group-V, stage-III (0.7620 N), Group-VI stage-IV (1.3560 N) was found.CONCLUSION: Objective evaluation of adhesions can be done by measuring the tensile strength. Suprofilm is effective as well as Seprafilm and can be used as antiadeziv. More works need to be done for using Olive oil and vitamin-E as antiadeziv. Olive oil and vitamin-E are beneficial in terms of wound healing but not useble as antiadeziv.
