Abdulfattah al-Qadi's life, his scholarly personality and the analysis of his book titled al-Qirâa fî Nadhar al-Mustashri̇kîn wa al-Mulhidîn

Abdulfattâh b. Abd al-Ghanī b. Muhammad al-Qādī (d. 1403/1982) was born in Damanhur, the capital of Egypt's Bukhayra province, on the 25th of Sha'ban in 1325/1907. He is one of the important scholars who grew up in Egypt. He was prominent in the field of Qur'ān and qirāa and wrote many important works in the field of qirāa. In addition to Islamic sciences, he also has a talent in literature. Goldziher's book Sects of Islamic Tafsir was analysed in detail by Abdulfattāh alQādī. Goldziher, as an orientalist, made many claims both about the Qur'ān and qirāa. According to Abdulfattāh al-Qādī, he said that his prejudiced behaviour should be questioned and that these allegations should be scientifically demonstrated to be unfounded. Therefore, he wrote al-Qirāa fī nadhar al-mustashrikīn wa al-mulhidīn in order to respond to Goldziher's claims. al-Qādī has listed relevant verses and hadiths one after the other and has given many examples for the understanding of the subject. He analysed different readings in the examples he mentioned, and at the same time he explained with which letter and movement the word in the example was read. The sources that Abdulfattâh al-Qādī utilised in his book vary according to the subject matter. In the fields of hadith, tafsir and qirāa, he referred to the names of different scholars in some places and their works in others. In this study, in which both the qirāa knowledge of Abdulfattāh al-Qādī and his answers to Goldziher's claims are tried to be reflected within the framework of the work titled al-Qirāa fī nadhar al-mustashrikīn wa'l-mulhidîn, the life of Abdulfattāh al-Qādī, his teachers, his students, his works are examined and the evaluation of Abdulfattāh al-Qādī's book is tried to be revealed.
