Abstract (EN)
Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory disease of the pancreas with abdominal pain and elevated enzymes such as amylase or lipase. The actual incidence is sometimes unknown because it is sometimes unrecognized or diagnosed post mortem, but the incidence of acute pancreatitis is considered to be 5-35 / 100,000. The incidence is increasing due to alcohol in Europe and especially Scandinavian countries. Mortality decreases (especially in necrotizing pancreatitis) with increasing diagnostic and therapeutic options. The major causes of mortality are SIRS (systemic inflammatory response syndrome) and organ failure in the first two weeks and sepsis and other complications after two weeks. Drug-induced pancreatitis accounts for 0.1-2% of the etiology of acute pancreatitis. Although drug-induced pancreatitis is frequently mild to moderate in severity, severe or even fatal cases have been described in the literature. In this study, 40 patients who were admitted to the emergency department with drug intoxication between 2011-2019 were evaluated retrospectively. Of the 40 patients, 18 were male and 22 were female. The mean age was 30.33 ± 19.07 years. Complications developed in 20 patients. Eight of them died, 32 of them were discharged. Mortality rate was 20%. There was no effect of antibiotic use on mortality. High creatinine level was associated with mortality. The most common cause of poisoning was paracetamol and organophosphate. The prognosis of patients with organophosphate poisoning was bad. Acute pancreatitis is common in patients presenting with drug intoxication. Acute pancreatitis should be investigated in patients with intoxication because of high morbidity and mortality.
