Abstract (EN)
One of the most important factors to enhance the production in the open pit mining is the selection of high capacity drilling machines. By using different mechanical machines, drillability is managed by a number of factors to break the rock or drill them. Some of these are related to the rock formation and some others are related to the applied force and drilling equipment. Rock properties, rock breaking mechanisms and drilling parameters are related to the drillability and are important parameters to determine the evaluation of drilling efficiency and the cutter's performance. The purpose of this study is to introduce the drilling machines used in open pit mining and determine the parameters which affect their performance, select the appropriate machines which resist against all weather conditions, ensure maximum safety in operation and reduce the costs. Rock properties were determined by rock mechanics tests and their effects on drilling performance were evaluated.
