Abstract (EN)

Infertility, a prevalent condition worldwide, is influenced by various environmental, genetic, and lifestyle factors. Metabolic syndrome, which comprises a set of risk factors, can negatively impact fertility. This study aims to investigate the impact of metabolic syndrome parameters on the outcomes of in vitro fertilization for women with unexplained infertility. Conducted at an in vitro fertilization center in Istanbul, the study included 28 women diagnosed with MetS and 32 women without.Key metrics such as in vitro fertilization trial numbers and pregnancy outcomes showed no marked differences between groups (p>0.05). Significant variations were found in anthropometric measurements like age, weight, bodu mass index, waist and hip circumference, and also in systolic blood pressure parameters (p≤0.05). Biochemical variables, namely high dancity liloprotein and trigliseryde levels, differed between the groups (p=0.001). The research has identified significant differences in the intake of potassium and carotene between women with unexplained infertility and the control group (p=0.012 and p=0.013 respectively). When comparing the energy and macronutrient intake of both groups to the recommended daily values, it has been observed that both groups consume less than the daily energy intake of 1800 kcal recommended by TÜBER 2022. The average energy intake in the patient group was found to be 1425 kcal, and 1596 kcal in the control group. Protein intake (%) was consistent with TÜBER 2022 recommendations in both groups. The research suggests that dietary adjustments and lifestyle changes may have a significant impact on reproductive health in women with unexplained infertility. The differences identified between the patient and control groups in terms of potassium and carotene intake indicate the potential significance of these factors. Therefore, it is important to emphasize the customization of diet and lifestyle interventions for women undergoing infertility treatment, taking into account their individual nutritional needs and potential risk factors for MetS.
