Abstract (EN)
This study was carried out to determine the yield and quality characteristics of some basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) varieties and genotypes under Adana ecological conditions in 2017. In the study, which was paerformed in randomized block design with four replications, 6 different basil varieties, including 3 cultivars (Agreto, Compact, Midnight) and 3 genotypes (R-11, 10-A, 10-L). Theplants have been harvested inthree different harvest stages throughout vegetation period and harvest stages had been evaluated as one-factor analysis of variance. In this research, plant height, the number of branches, green herba yield, dry herba yield, dry leaf yield were investigated. The essential oil components obtained by steam distillation method were determined by GC-MS. Significant differences were determined in terms of traits in genotypes and varieties As a result, the highest plant length (94.1 cm) was determined as 10-L genotype and the lowest plant height (42.2 cm) was determined as Midnight variety. The number of branches varied from 12.0 to 7.1 (number / plant). In the study, green herba yields of varieties and genotypes were 2691.8-15734.5 kg / da, dry herba yields were 334.2-2518.6 kg / da, dry leaf yields varied between 172.5-996.7 kg / da and the highest herba yields were obtained from 10-L genotype. Essential oil ratios varied between 0.8-1.6% and the highest value was obtained from the 10-A genotype in the second harvest time. In the essential oil were identified and in this components, linalool (64.72%), eucalyptol (20.94%), citral (38.20%), meti cavicol (94.59%) and methyl eugenol (49.55%) were found to be high ratio. As a result of the study, 10-A and 10-L genotypes were found to be the best-adapted genotypes in terms of herba yield and essential oil ratios and particularly, genotype 10-A was found to be rich in metil cavicol while genotype 10-L was found to be rich in citral.
