Abstract (EN)

Natural radioactivity originates from extraterrestrial sources as well as from radioactive elements in the earth crust. The radioactivity of the earth includes the primordial radionuclides such as U-238, U-235, Th-232,K-410 and Rb-87. The main objective of this study is to evaluate Adana region from the point of radiogical view. For this purpose, it was determined natural concentration of radionuclides in soil samples taking from different areas of the Adana region and like sea water around Adana region, lake water which supply drinking water to the city and villages, the atmosphere near to the surface of the region. Besides it was determined 222Rn activity concentrations in summer and winter in Adana houses. Addionally, yearly radiation doses from these sources taken by the people who living in Adana was calculated. Key Words: Background Radiation, Radon , Soil, Water, Air
