Green infrastructure planning for sustainable urban development in Adana Sarıçam district

The aim of this study is to contribute to the realization of green infrastructure planning for the existing and future development plans to maintain sustainable urban development in Sarıçam district of Adana province. Flood risk areas were determined using Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis method with the integration of satellite images, digital and thematic maps and meteorological data of the study area. In the research, various physical factors (aspect, slope, elevation and soil), land use and hydrological characteristics of the region were analyzed, and the settlement areas which will be affected by the flood were determined and planned as urban green areas for rainwater management. The implementation plan and various prototype designs are proposed depending on the data derived from the analysis to contribute to the green infrastructure planning of the Sarıçam district of Adana province.
