REGION AFTER THE 1998 EARTHQUAKE (Master thesis) Gülin Payash Oğuz GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY March-2002 ABSTRACT In this study, statement of traditional settlement texture in Adana-Tepebağ after 1998 earthquake is analyzed and a preservation proposals are developed. The study consist of six chapters, including the introduction and conclusion. First chapter constains the goal and the method of the study, in the second chapter the geographical state, social statue, historical development and general characteristic of traditional architecture of Adana are given in detail. The third chapter includes the analyses of the site physical, architectural and social. In the fourth chapter, evaluation of the buildings is given in detail by taking into consideration their potentials and problems. The fifth chapter points out the principles, decisions and proposalls regarding the new utilization of the area in the scope of conservation and rehabilitation act. Finally, major conclusions and recommendations related whith the study are presented.
