A study on Adiyaman province names

This thesis study on the place names of Adıyaman province, whose history goes back to 40.000 BC and which is located on fertile crescent and has hosted many civilizations, consists of Abbreviations, Transcription, Introduction, Section I, II, III, Conclusion, Suggestions, Bibliography and CV sections Place name studies reach interpretations by considering the interaction of people living there with the natural environment, economic activities, social lives, cultural structures, historical backgrounds and migration movements based on the name of a place. In the master's thesis named "A Study on the Place Names of Adıyaman Province", 9 districts and 623 settlement names, including the central district of Adıyaman, were examined in terms of structure and origin, semantically classified and their formation forms were tried to be explained. In the introduction part, the subject, purpose, importance, data collection techniques, method and the framework of the research are explained. In the Section I, information about Adıyaman and its districts was given and the origin and meaning of the names of the provinces and districts were studied. In addition, information about the tribes, communities that resided in Adıyaman throughout history, and the states that dominated the region was rovided. The geographical, physical, human, economic and cultural characteristics of Adıyaman are included. In the Section II, all village and neighborhood names of Adıyaman have been analyzed etymologically and grammatically. In the section III, all villages and neighborhoods of Adıyaman are classified semantically. Again in this section, all settlement names of Adıyaman are given in alphabetical form with their old and new names.
