Primary sectors and local dynamics in the development of Adıyaman

Underdevelopment is an important problem in Turkey as in the worldwide. Rising up as a local imbalance, this problem gets deeper as we move onto lower units. As a result, many economical and social problems occur. Meanwhile, the resources in hand couldn?t be used at optimum degree.For this reason, in order to solve the problem of underdevelopment, the studies at the basis of regional and lower units should be intensified.The aim of this study is to examine the sectoral structure of Adıyaman, in the Southeastern Anatolia, which faces the problem of underdevelopment; to reveal the sectors the city leads and and to display the effects of the local development dynamics. In the study, historical, descriptive and correlational methods are used. During the study, an economical map of Adıyaman is used and the main problems which the city faces in the process of development are tried to be revealed.In the light of the findings, with the help of improving basic facilities, the agriculture and turism are the sectors standing out most. Moreover, having the sample projects in the field of local development is an advantage for Adıyaman. In addition, there is a noteworthy development in the economical structure of Adıyaman in recent years. However, the project being carried out in Southeastern Anatolia should be completed as soon as possible.Key Words: The Problem of Underdevelopment, Adıyaman, Sectoral Development, Local development.
