Abstract (EN)
The disasters are described as technological or human-induced events that stop or suspend life and human activities and lead to economic and social loses. When people first encounter disasters, they find it difficult to overcome them. The aim of this study is to determine the readiness level of nurses in subjects such as survival, evacuation, first aid, triage from the first hours following the disasters. The sample of this study 181 volunteer nurses working in Namık Kemal University Health Application and Research Center. Survey form developed by researchers was used as data collection tool. The data were analyzed with "SPSS for Windows 22" package program. After the descriptive analysis, variance analysis, Student's t test, Correlations analysis were used in the comparative analysis where parametric assumptions were fulfilled. In cases where parametric assumptions were not realized, Kruskal Wallis analysis was used. The results in which p values were p<0.05 were regarded as statistically meaningful. The average scores of the participants in the field of disaster preparedness were found to be 3.23±0.73. Participants were able to make basic qualification applications in the field of disaster preparedness. First Aid Knowledge Level of the participants was found to be 71.86±18.52. First aid knowledge levels of nurses were found to be high. As a result of the study, it was determined that nurses who have received disaster training and have a high level of education are more ready for disasters. Nurses are required to take a more active role in the exercises performed regularly every year in hospitals. It is recommended to increase the participation of nurses in the trainings related to disasters and emergencies within the institution. Within the scope of Integrated Disaster Management System, the duties and responsibilities of nurses in disaster management phases should be increased.
