Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to proven effectiveness in determining prognosis at 0,24and 72 hours of severe headinjury with protein S100B and NSE levelswhich patient underlying in neurosurgical intensive care unit, the patients between the ages of 18-70.The detection prognostic value of biomarkers S100B and NSE protein which previosly has been scientifically proven efficacy will shed light on future studies and it will help in plaming prognosis and treatment of these patients. This study based on prospective clinical trial which appoval at Dicle University Medical Faculty ethicscommitee.Study made for a period of 6 months between 15.05.2010-15.11.2010 in department of neurosurgery Dicle University Faculty of medicine. The study to do were included for various reasons(high falls, car accidents)are exposed to head trauma ,hospital arrival time of less than 6 hours after injury, which Glasgow Coma Scala 8 with severe head injury in adult men and women between the ages of18-70 age group 50 patiewnts. The data obtained sepewrated two and compared with gos 's from patients coming to hospital time ,24.and 72. housrs. GOS 1-2 evaluated bad ,GOS 3-4-5 evaluated good anes.S100B and NSE levels were significantly higher in patients with bad GCS.According to the results of blood samples arrival to hospital ,24.and72. taken hours NSE values meaninges found p 0,05 .Where as S1OO B values was significant p 0,05.Acordingly,the serum S100B levelin determining the prognosis in patient withsevere head injury, according to the level of NSE is more reliable ,it can be used as on alternative ,easy, cheap and objective criterion like.GKS,GOSsimple but a little subjective trauma scaring sistenms.İt gives valuable information about estimate damaged tissuen that more than glial or neuronal ,detremining the prognosis of the disease ,the size of damage and determining th etreatment strategy, determining the effetiveness of the treatment and differantial diagnosis of disease. But more and large studies on this issue needsto be done.
