Abstract (EN)

Mawlids are poetic and prosaic literary texts written with the occasion of the birth of Muhammad the Prophet. The day Muhammad the Prophet was born became the source of joy for Islam World, and in the line of this joy and prophet love, many works are written out. This study, named "Mevlid-i Nebevî, Examination-Text" belonging to Ahmed Edirnevî, is one of the many mawlids, written in Turkish-Islamic literature. The work in question, with the sole copy available at hand, is examined with reference to this copy. This study is prepared in order to introduce the work Mevlid-i Nebevî by Ahmed Edirnevî, whose name is not mentioned before among the sources prepared about the mawlid type, to our science world. At the first part of the study, the concept mawlid is put emphasize on and general information is given regarding its place in our history and literature. The comparison between the mawlid of Sulaiman Chalaby, the most important example of mawlid type in Turkish literature, and the mentioned work is made. After the work is examined in terms of style and content, the transcription of the mawlid written in the masnavi format is examined.
