Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of negative automatic thoughts and emotion regulation difficulties in the relationship between self-perceptions of women who are exposed to violence by their spouse and self-efficacy of coping with domestic violence and ways of dealing with stress. The research sample consists of 479 women who have been subjected to violence by their husbands. In order to collect data within the scope of the study, the Social Comparison Scale, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, Automatic Negative Thoughts Scale, Ways of Coping Inventory, Domestic Violence Coping Self-Efficacy Scale, and demographic forms created by the researcher were used to evaluate data. The hypothetical model of the study was tested with Structural Equation Modeling in the Lisrel 8.80 package program. According to the findings obtained in the research, it has been determined that emotion regulation difficulties and negative automatic thoughts have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between women's self-perception and self-efficacy of coping with domestic violence. Considering the other findings of the study, it has been observed that negative automatic thoughts have a full mediating effect on the relationship between self-perception and emotion-focused coping and partial mediating effect on the relationship between self-perception and problem-focused coping. In addition, it was determined that emotion regulation difficulties had a full mediating effect on the relationship between self-perception and emotion-focused coping and partial mediating effect on the relationship between self-perception and problem-focused coping. The results of the research are discussed within the scope of the related literature and suggestions for future studies are presented.
