The sustainability of family businesses and a survey in Bursa city

The contribution of corporations to the overall economy depend upon their institutional structure. It is a well known fact that the contribution of those corporations which managed to be institutionalized is significantly higher. In our country, the majority of corporations takes the form of family corporations. Some of them managed to be industrialized, yet the majority of them falls short of reaching an institutional structure. In this study, a survey which consist of 15 questions, has been applied to family corporations at DOSAB AND NOSAB in order to collect data about the institutional structure and sustainability of the family corporations. Data has been analyzed through frequency analysis by employing SPSS 23 software. The most outstanding finding of the study is that the family values' effect on the decision making process constitute the main bottleneck factor preventing the institutionalization of the corporations.
