Abstract (EN)

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of AAA; to investigate the effect of serum testosterone, sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) level and sexual function in male patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study group consisted of 35 male patients who were diagnosed as AAA as patient group and 35 healthy volunteer males with similar features as control group. Blood samples were taken from both groups and total testosterone and sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) levels were measured in the laboratory. Sexual functions were evaluated in both groups by the international erectile function questionnaire (IIEF) and data were collected. The results of the parameters were evaluated and the relationship between the two groups was evaluated. RESULTS: 35 patients with AAA and 35 healthy individuals were included in the study. While the mean serum SHBG levels were 25,9686 ± 13,95549 nmol / l in the patient group, it was 29,8943 ± 12,16238 nmol / l in the control group and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p: 0,214). While serum total testosterone level was found as 18,1540 ± 7,32547 nmol / l in the patient group, it was 16,5697 ± 6,999610 nmol / l in the control group and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p= 0,358). While free testosterone level was found as 0.3677 ± 0.08116 ng / ml in the patient group, it was 0,3171 ± 0.111159 ng / ml in the control group and free testosterone levels were found higher in the patient group and there was statistically significant (p = 0,033). Erectile function scores were found to be lower in the patient group than the control group and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p: 0.001). Orgasmic function scores were found to be lower in the patient group compared to the control group and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p: 0.007). Sexual satisfaction scores were lower in the patient group compared to the control group and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p: 0,003). The prevalence of ED was 74.2% in the patient group and 31.4% in the control group. CONCLUSİON: In conclusion, this study is the first to investigate the effect of AAA on sexual function in male patients as a result of literature review. When all the findings obtained in this study were evaluated; The risk of developing sexual dysfunction in men with AAA is higher than in the control group. AAA disease; It has a negative effect on sexual function in men. It is thought that sexual functions will increase and the quality of life will increase by directing the patients to related branches by clinicians.
