Amphoras, the noteworthy evidence for the trade in antiquity, has been stamped by the leading amphora producer cities of the market all through the Hellenistic Age. Knidos is one of the cities which systematized stamping their amphoras and made it a long lasting tradition. All across the Mediterranean and in the Black Sea Region it is possible to find some proof for the trade activities of Knidos. Alexandria consists a great market for Knidian wine and other goods that were stored and transported in amphora in the Hellenistic Age. Therefore, the 225 Knidian stamped amphora handles found in Alexandria during the salvation excavations done by CEAlex were considered as a decent indicator for understanding the commercial relations between Knidos and Alexandria.
