Abstract (EN)

It is known that long-term alcohol use causes liver damage because 90% of the alcohol metabolism process occurs in the liver. Ethanol increases lipid synthesis and free radicals in the liver, causing fatty degeneration, fibrosis and cirrhosis. Hepatocellular damage occurs because alcohol reduces natural antioxidants in the liver. Exercise, on the other hand, has supportive effects on the antioxidant system when performed chronically and in accordance with the metabolism. In our study, 24 female Wistar albino rats obtained from Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Medicine Experimental Medicine Research and Application Center were used for 4 groups: Control, Exercise Control, Alcoholic, Alcoholic+Exercise groups. To the experimental animals in which alcoholism was desired, the first week dose of ethanol was given orally as 3ml/kg, diluted with water and mixed with a trace amount of sugar, and increased to 4ml/kg at the end of 1 week. In the other weeks, it was increased at the beginning of the week and finally 8ml/kg ethanol was administered for 6 weeks. Alcohol was consumed without interruption throughout. Experimental alcoholism was created. In the study, milk and dairy products were restricted. Apart from that, female rats were not subjected to any other restrictions in terms of feed and water. Exercise groups ran outdoors outside the cage in a semi-dark environment within the boundaries of the exercise area for 30 minutes, including weekends, for 4 weeks. Studies have shown that chronic moderate running exercise has positive effects on liver enzymes. In this study, rats were divided into 4 groups and combined with various variables to examine the effects of chronic running exercises on liver enzymes and antioxidant enzyme activities in the body. Its aim was to investigate how running exercises affect liver enzymes and antioxidant enzyme activities in rats with experimental alcohol dependence. As a result, at the end of the research, we found that chronic running exercises had a positive effect on liver enzymes and antioxidant enzyme activity in alcoholic rats.
