Research of influences of natural and artificial light on space designs: Trabzon Forum shopping mall sample

Light has a second role,besides space lighting, to induce the perception of the space. In order to present the percepted spaces to people's experience ,spaces need to be formed. This thesis study is established to address formation of spaces in accordance with natural and artificial illumination and the problems that may arise from this. The study is constructed in a theoretical manner by emphasizing the details of lighting and space subjects. By investigating the effects of lighting on humans and human psychology, separately in regard to space variations , visual and ergonomical concerns are discussed. Within the material and method section, processed literature data is supported by surveys and thus , it's aimed to contribute to solutions of the problems, in the Findings/discussion section this data is evaluated and in the last part, it's concluded with some recommendations. As a result of the study, it's found that men find lightings in the circulation areas of shopping malls more sufficient compared to women. Also, visitors have considered the influence of indoor and outdoor lighting elements of shopping mall on space design as more positive compared to mall staff's opinions. In the same vay ,visitors in comparison with mall staff, have declared that they have the opinon of natural lighting is used in the best way in the design of Trabzon Forum Shopping Mall. In general the shopping mall seems to be efficient regarding to lighting but when the rates are analyzed, the satisfaction doesn't seem to be in an adequate level.
