The attitudes of surgical nurses to patient safety and ifluencing factors (Trabzon province example)

This research is across-sectional and descriptive study with aim of determining the attitudes of surgical nurses to patient safety and influencing factors. The population of the study is composed of 57 nurses working in surgery units under KTÜ Rectorate of Farabi Hospital. The sample has been formed by the nurses (52 people) voluntarily participated the study, working in the surgery for at least 4 months and being active during the research period. The data of survey has been collected by researches and consultants reviewing the literature, applying the under personal questionnaire consisting of 23 questions including the ideas of increasing patient safety occupational characteristics of working conditions in the institution. %84.6 of the nurses are female, %15.4 are male and the average age is 34.1±7.1. SAQ average scores of the nurses who use the security reporting system actively are higher than tose who don't use it and nurses who think the management supports themselves when reporting an error are higher than those who don't think. The nurses' attitudes towards patient safety have been determined at mid level. In terms of SAQ subdimensions, the lowest score average is management-related thoughts and the highest score average is the subscale of stress level determination have been established.
