Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT DETERMINATION OF PRESSURE ULCER RISK OF PATIENTS IN THE OPERATING ROOM Aim: This study is a descriptive study which designed to determine the pressure ulcer risk of patients in the operating room. Material and Method: The study was carried out between March and April 2018 at Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty Hospital of İstanbul University. 187 patients who underwent surgery in General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology and Chest Surgery clinics were taken. The data were collected by researcher by using the 'Patient Presentation Form' and '3S Operating Room Pressure Scale Risk Assessment Scale Turkish Form (3S RTÖTR)', which were validated by Soyer and Özbayır in accordance with the literature. Patients who taken to the operating room were evaluated with patient identification form and 3S Surgery Pressure Scale Risk Assessment Scale in the pre-operative preparation unit. During the operating period, the items of the 3S Operating Room Pressure Scatter Risk Assessment Scale were assessed. In the postoperative period, the entire skin was staged according to the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) staging system, which was evaluated for pressure sore. Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS) 21 program was used in the analysis of the data. Student t Test, Kruskal Wallis Test, Kappa Test, Pearson Correlation Test were used in the analyzes. A written consent was obtained from the scientific ethics committee, hospital management and patients for the use of '3S Operating Room Pressure Wound Risk Assessment Scale Turkish Form (3S RTÖTR)' in the study. Results: 56,1% of the patients were female and the mean age was 49,3 ±14,3 years. When the operations performed on the patients were examined, it was determined that bile duct (17.6%), hernia (15.5%) and thyroid surgery (13.4%). In the study, 34.8% of patients were reported to have at least one additional chronic disease. Stage 1 pressure scar development was observed in 12.3% of the patients. 3S Operating Room Pressure Scale Risk Assessment Scale scores of patients with additional chronic disease and pressure sore stage 1 were statistically significantly higher than the others (p = 0.02, p <0.01). In the study, there was a statistically significant and negatively correlated relationship between patient age and 3S Operating Room Pressure Scale Risk Diagnosis Scale Scores (r = 0,21, p <0,01). Conclusion: According to the 3S operating room pressure sore risk assessment scale, 8 patients were above the 3S test score ">23", and there was a risk of pressure sore in the operating room. According to the 3S operating room pressure sore risk assessment scale, stage 1 pressure sore development was observed in 100% of the 8 patients in whom the risk of pressure sore development in the operating room was detected. It is suggested to use '3S Operating Room Pressure Sore Risk Assessment Scale Turkish Form (3S RTÖTR)' as a guide to the nurses and to perform wider sample studies in determining the pressure sore risk of the patients in the operating room. Key words: Nursing, Pressure ulcer, Operating room
