Abstract (EN)
Tales are syncretized with culture of the community in many societies of the world. To what extent culture is associated with social life, moral order and lifestyle is known. Fairy tales, as being folk narratives, mirror the society by exhibiting broad perspective of the culture. The mirror is an extraordinary object by which both sides see each other and draw conclusions from what they see. The matter of civilization, which undertakes transcultural mission and unites nations, sheds light on global mindset and the world by means of tales. Every nation has picked the tales offered by the civilization and recreated them by blending with their culture. It has been discussed for many years that tales of every culture exhibit common features. The common features, which have been addressed in terms of motifs, characters, structure and formal expressions so far, are considered with respect to tale heroes, as well. Considering the idea that tales stem from Indian culture and Vedas, folklorists deliberate for many years that tales are spread across national cultures from an advanced civilization. In our study, prominent pieces of Indian tale collection and Anatolian Turkish tale collection were examined with regard to female characters. The goal of the study was to interpret tales by emphasizing their importance in cultural code analysis and in the light of the interpretation to determine the female characters in tales.
