Abstract (EN)

This thesis examines the individuals who were exiled to Ankara Province between 1895-1912 and the Druze community. It is questioned how the exiles interacted with the city from the date they came to Ankara and how the responsible officials of the city managed the exile process. Although monographic studies on Ottoman cities have increased recently, the number of studies examining the city by focusing on people or groups has been extremely limited. Especially in the XIX. the end of the century and the XX. this is very evident in studies focused on the beginning of the century. Therefore, in order to understand the exiles in the Ottoman provinces through the city, the cases of deportation to Ankara were emphasized. In the first chapter, in order to answer the question of what kind of place Ankara was, the physical and human characteristics of the province were explained. In the second part, the definition of exile and how it is included in the texts of laws and memoirs is mentioned. In the third part, the examples of ex-mufti Mehmed Hanefi, Ahmed Arif and Abdülhay, imam Mehmed Vehbi, dissident journalists İsmail Faik and Hamid Subhi and student Naciye from the Hüseyni family from Jerusalem, who were among the individual exile cases in Ankara, were examined. In the first part of the fourth part, the Druze who resided in Ankara between 1896-1900 because they were suspects of the Havran Revolt in Syria were examined, and in the second part, because they caused the Druze uprising in Havran in 1910, in Ankara between 1911-1913. Persons in exile were examined.
