Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to evaluate the anterior and posterior sacral length, anterior and posterior sacral curvature length, maximum transverse length of the S1 vertebral body, anteroposterior length of the S1 vertebral body, mid-ventral straight length, linea trasversa lengths, sacral area, sacrum base angle, sacral slope, sacrum width, intercornual distance, ventral straight width, linea transversa, right and left art. sacroiliac cross-sectional area of patients diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Our retrospective study was conducted by examining the records of 160 individuals between the ages of 18-72. Images were taken from 80 patients diagnosed with AS (40 male-40 female) and the same number of healthy individuals for the control group. Magnetic resonance images were uploaded into the microdicom program and measurements were performed. All analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0 for Windows (New York; USA). Male AS patients in our study had lower measurements of linea transversa 1, 2, and posterior sacral curvature length and ventral flat breadth than the control group. The sacral inclination angle was measured higher in the patient group. The left and right art. sacroiliaca cross-sectional areas were measured significantly larger in the control group compared to the patient group. In female patients with AS; the sacral inclination angle was measured higher than the control group. When male and female patients with AS were compared; anterior and posterior sacral length, anterior and posterior sacral curvature length, sacral area, maximum transverse length of the S1 vertebral body, anteroposterior length of the S1 vertebral body, linea trasversa 1, linea trasversa 2 and linea trasversa 3 measurements were found to be higher in male patients. In the male/female patient group, a positive correlation was found between the sacral area, posterior sacral curvature length and intercornual distance and the cross-sectional area of the left sacroiliac joint, and a negative correlation was found with the sacral slope. Our research data will be a preliminary reference for future studies. In addition, we believe that understanding the measurements of the sacrum and the relationship between the sacroiliac joint and the sacrum in patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) will significantly contribute to the clinical stages of the disease and enhance the treatment process.
