Comparison of the effectiveness of mirabegron and soliphenacin combination therapy and mirabegron monotherapy in overactive bladder

Aim: It was aimed to compare the treatment efficacy of patients diagnosed with Overactive Bladder after 3 months of solifenacin 5mg and 50mg mirabegron combination therapy, in one group using only mirabegron monotherapy for 3 months, and in the other group after continued use of combination therapy medication. Method: A total of 50 patients with a diagnosis of Overactive Bladder who applied to the Urology Outpatient Clinic between February 2020 and November 2021 were evaluated retrospectively. The patients were examined in 2 groups. One group (Group 1 n=25) received 5 mg solifenacin and 50 mg mirabegron combined therapy for 3 months, followed by 50 mg mirabegron monotherapy alone for the other 3 months. The other group (Group 2 n=25) continued the combined treatment of 5 mg solifenacin and 50 mg mirabegron for 6 months. Both groups were evaluated and compared with the OAB-V8 and ICIQ-SF symptom evaluation forms of the patients. Results: 50 patients were included in the study. 34 of the patients were female and 16 were male. The mean age of the patients included in the study was 39.74 years. OAB-V8 and ICIQ-SF evaluation form scores were evaluated during the first admission, 1st month, 3rd month, and 6th month admission of both groups of patients. The differences between the 6th month scores at the 3rd month and at the first application were compared and no statistically significant difference was found. Conclusion: Antimuscarinic treatment can be discontinued after the 3rd month in patients receiving combination therapy due to the diagnosis of overactive bladder, and treatment with mirabegron monotherapy can be continued.
