Abstract (EN)

Renal failure in case of complications is characterized as a sudden decline in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) arising from ischemia or toxic insult to the kidney. Calcium, as well as phosphorus metabolism issues, are prevalent in chronic renal disease. This case-control study included a hundred participants, sixty patients with renal failure, and forty served as age-matched healthy controls. During this study, various biochemical kidney functions were assessed, including calcium, blood urea, procalcitonin, albumin, phosphorus, glomerular filtration rate, and haemoglobin. There was a significant increase in the mean serum level of procalcitonin, albumin, creatinine and phosphorous with a significant statistical difference in patients compared to the healthy group; on the other hand, there was an apparent decrease in the value of both GFR in addition to haemoglobin, in addition to that, there was no difference Significant in respect to the level of calcium between the two groups. In conclusion, the lack of any significant difference in the level of calcium between the group of patients and healthy subjects, as well as the decrease in haemoglobin level in addition to GFR, compared to the increase in other biochemical concentrations, is a clear indication of the extent of damage in the kidneys as a result of the inflammatory process as well as progression in the stage of renal failure.
