Abstract (EN)
In countries that have completed the industrial revolution, the cost of repairing environmental damage is much higher and more difficult than protecting the environment. In the context of sustainable use of natural resources and waste management, it is important to recycle rubber waste and use it for energy production. The significant increase in the global vehicle population and the lack of technical and economic mechanisms for processing used tires have resulted in used tires accumulating in landfills and becoming a serious environmental problem. It is estimated that 80% of used tires in our country and in the world are still unused, and the number of used tires in Turkey doubles every year. For this reason, an action plan for the management of used tires is urgently needed. Waste rubber can be used both as a raw material for the production of new products in companies and for energy production in energy plants. The most important recycling techniques are recoating, energy recovery, pyrolysis and product and material recycling. Oil consumption rose from around 4 million tons to 6 million tons between 2004 and 2014, and the data suggets that it will continue to increase with each passing year. According to data from the World Energy Outlook project, global energy demand will increase by 40% by 2030 and it has been determined that fossil fuel resources will not be sufficient to meet demand until 2050. Accordingly, it is of great importance to use used tires for energy production. In addition, it has been determined that the R4 (recovery and recycling of metals and metal components) and R12 (recycling by combining with order waste codes) methods will come to the fore in the rubber and plastics industry facilities in accordance with the relevant articles of the Waste Management Regulation.
