Abstract (EN)

Globalism and Regionalism tendencies become well-known in the world economy in recent years These tendencies increase the importance of competition concept in international trade. And, as a result of this, countries of the world are involved in an enviroment in which there is an increasing competition in the field of foreign economic relations. Turkey is also trying to find a place in this competitive enviroment. The enlargement of the markets that surround Turkey and the increase in product variety has accelarated Turkey's foreign trade. Despite of this fact EEC countries have been our markets and trade partners for years. Our participation in EEC was in 12.09.1963 trough Ankara Agreement. And after the Decision of Association Council dated 06.03.1995, Turkey had to reconcile its legislation to the legislation of EEC countries. Before joining in Customs Union, Law about protection of Competition, in 13.12.1994, and Law about protection of Consumer Rights, in 23.02.1995, are promulgated. Turkey joined in Customs Union in 01.01.1996 and some regulations were done. In the frame of these regulations, Competition Council was established in March, 1997 and it began to operate in November, 1997. Anti-damping that is being applied to Turkish goods and obstacles that are out of tariff, which are one of the most important problems of Turkey in commercial relations with European Community will be solved through effective operation of the Council, and this will increase Turkey's power of competition against EEC.
