In the process of European Union law of associtions and foundations in Turkey

Lately the European Union full membership process has been one of the most popular subjects. Ensuring the development of the civil society and bringing arrangements towards removing the obstacles especially before the organization of the unions and foundations are the most important ones of the political criterion of European Union.In the Republican Turkey, especially after military coups, the development of the civil society organizations has been blocked. The associations and foundations have suffered most from these coups, since the associations and foundations have been perceived by the administrators of that time as the organizations that endanger the indivisible integrity of the government and nation in respect of their functions, their development has not been allowed.We see that these opinions in the European Union process have been disappearing slowly. The leading concepts for the European Union are democracy, respect for the rights of human being and constitutional state. The development of the associations and foundations are also being similar to the development of these concepts.The concept of the civil society has come into prominence by the Copenhagen Criteria foreseen by the European Union for accession. In this study, the non-governmental organizations in the European Union harmonization process and, especially the contributions and roles of the association and foundations in these organizations in the European Union harmonization process will be evaluated.
