Abstract (EN)

The sacroiliac joint (SIJ) is the joint responsible for transferring body weight to the lower extremities by working with many muscles and ligaments. It has been demonstrated many times that HVLA chiropractic manipulation applied to SIE has positive effects on joint biomechanics. In standing people, the possibility of experiencing pain with SIJ dysfunction is one of the leading musculoskeletal problems. Chiropractic HVLA technique applied to SIJ in standing people; It is aimed to look at the instantaneous effect on postural balance, range of motion (ROM) and muscle strength. Forty volunteers participating in the study were randomly divided into two as manipulation group and control group. In both groups, measurements were made with goniometer, biodex balance system (BSS) and microFET®2. Right-left general hip ROM measurement and lumbar region flexion, extension, right-left lateral flexion measurements were made by goniometer. Bilateral postural balance was measured with BSS with eyes open and closed. Right-left quadriceps and hamstring muscle strength were measured with a microFET®2. Nothing else was done to the control group and the measurements were repeated 10 minutes after the measurements. In the manipulation group, the measurements were repeated after the chiropractic HVLA application. The significance level in the study was evaluated as p<0.05. In intragroup comparisons, the data were statistically significant except for the MLSI value in the measurements of hip ROMs, lumbar region ROMs, muscle strength, postural balance with eyes open and postural balance with eyes closed in the manipulation group (p<0.05). Hip extension, abduction, adduction and internal rotation values and lumbar region flexion and left lateral flexion values were statistically significant in the control group (p<0.05). In the comparison between the groups, all values were statistically significant except for the eyes closed OSI value (p<0.05). Keywords: Chiropractic, Sacroiliac Joint, Muscle Strength, Range of Motion, Postural Balance
