An overview to land consolidation studies of Aydin Efeler dalama irrigation area

Objective: This study has two main objectives. The first of these; within the scope of the consolidation project implemented in 11 neighborhoods (Dereköy, Yeniköy, Karahayıt, Kozalaklı, Armutlu, Mesutlu, Şahnalı, Gölhisar, Tepeköy, Baltaköy and Çiftlik) together with the central town of Dalama of Aydın-Efeler district; to examine the general conditions of on-farm development services-TIGH (road length, change in parcel shapes, irrigation and drainage channel lengths, state of the engineering structures, land leveling, distribution of enterprises according to land size, land assets of enterprises) before and after consolidation; the second one is to investigate the effectiveness of the project with farmer interviews within the scope of monitoring and evaluation after consolidation in the neighborhoods given above. Material and Methods: The study was carried out in 11 neighborhoods (Dereköy, Yeniköy, Karahayıt, Kozalaklı, Armutlu, Mesutlu, Şahnalı, Gölhisar, Tepeköy, Baltaköy and Çiftlik) together with the central town of Aydın-Dalama. Within the scope of the study, the general situation before and after consolidation was examined and the effectiveness of the project was investigated with farmer interviews. By determining the questions to be directed to the farmers, 223 interviews were conducted in order to get the opinions of the farmers. In the questions prepared in the interview study, 3 main indicators (water use efficiency, physical efficiency, social and economic efficiency) were selected in order to determine the efficiency of consolidation. Results: With the land consolidation, the number of parcels decreased from 4179 to 3301. There has been a 21% decrease in the total number of parcels with consolidation. Average parcel size increased from 6.77 decares to 8.54 decares. Consolidation rate was determined as 22% and irrigation rate of the project area was determined as 46.97%. 63% of the farmers who participated in the interview stated that they did not find it appropriate to build irrigation networks before land consolidation, and they thought that land consolidation and irrigation project should be carried out together, and the remaining 33% stated that doing irrigation project before consolidation project provided them with many benefits. Conclusion: Carrying out the consolidation project together with irrigation works is important in terms of making consolidation more effective and beneficial, and it is promising for the future of the projects that the farmers in the region become conscious in this sense.
