Terms in Babürs Divan and conceptual vocabulary

Chagatai Turkish is generally defined in Turkology literature as the written and spoken language of Eastern Turks from the early 15th century to the beginning of the 20th century. This study focuses on the terminology and conceptual vocabulary used in the Divan of Babur Shah, who was not only a ruler but also possessed diverse intellectual qualities during the classical period of the Chagatai Turkish. The vocabulary of a language includes proverbs, idioms, phrases and terms within a language. Terms; art, literature, technique in a language, etc. they are special responses of the statements belonging to the subjects. Before starting the study, an attempt was made to determine the headings related to the terms identified in term studies of the historical texts of Turkish. Work on Chagatai Turkish was also examined. While examining the terms identified in the Divan and their conceptual vocabulary origins, etymology dictionaries, term dictionaries and many other dictionaries specific to other fields were used. The thesis consists of an introduction, examination, and conclusion. In the introduction, general information was given about Chagatai Turkish, Babur's Life and Works, Conseptual Vocabulary and the Science of Terminology. In the examination, the identified terms were investigated in terms of their concept areas and origins. Professor Dr. Bilal Yücel's work, the Divan of Babur, was used when reviewing the terms. After being transferred to Turkish in Turkey, the identified conceptual vocabulary and terms were explained using dictionaries, etymology dictionaries, and terminological dictionaries. In conclusion, the dominant terminology for each language was determined based on tables and numerical data. The preferred language for each term section was identified and conclusions were drawn about the reasons, followed by a general evaluation of the period.
