Levels of imagery and phenomenon in Bahaettin Karakoç's poems

Bahaettin Karakoç, known as the "White Eagle" of Turkish poetry, has an important place in Post-republican Turkish poetry. He creates an original perception of poetry, originating from both his ideas and the geography in which he lived. Poetry is an indispensable source of life for Bahaettin Karakoç. The poet, who searches for absolute truth in his poems, always tries to remain faithful to the promise he made when he was a child. Starting from his first published poetry book, Seyran, he begins to wave the flag of his original understanding of poetry. Revealing the existence of national and spiritual values, cultural elements, as well as the individual's inner judgment with a creative imagination in his poems, Bahaettin Karakoç also benefits from the possibilities of language. Pushing the limits of language by using images, the poet creates aesthetic and harmonious poems by creating new connotation values and mental plans. Karakoç translates the unspoken and unexpressed emotions by attributing new meanings to his poems through images. In his poems, he makes use of the image types of diffuse, submerged, radical, intense and ornamental-enthusiastic-stale images. Karakoç brings to light the words that are not used in poetry and are about to be forgotten, in his original poem, and creates new units of meaning. For this reason, diffuse and submerged images are not frequently encountered in his poems. In this study, the use of images in Bahaettin Karakoç's poems is discussed. In the first part of the study, frequently used themes in Bahaettin Karakoç's life, literary personality, works and poems are included. In the second part, general information about the image was given. In the third and most basic part of the study, Bahaettin Karakoç's poems were examined within the framework of images. In the "Conclusion" section of the study, the identified issues are stated. Then, the bibliography about Bahaettin Karakoç and the image is included.
