Abstract (EN)
Bulgarians living under the sovereignty of the Ottoman Empire, started revolts through the committees and gangs they established in the 19th century in order to obtain political independence. After the Ottoman–Russian War, they continued to organize in the newly founded Bulgaria Principality and Ottoman lands in order to realize 'Big Bulgaria' dream. In 1893, the foundation of Internal Macedonia-Edirne Revolution Organization was laid in Salonika, and it aimed to obtain political autonomy of Macedonia and Edirne Province and then unite it with Bulgaria. As a result of its active propagandas, this organization could muster up support from the people it was arisen in a short period. This organization became a state within a state and with its committees and gangs; they founded an illegal army and courts. They got the greatest external support surely from the Bulgaria Principality and the High Committee that was founded by the immigrants from Macedonia-Edirne, and they founded a foreign representative Office in Sofia. Gotse Delchev and Gyorche Petrov were assigned as representatives. The relationship between the High Committe and the representatives primarily worsened due to the divergence of the opinions about the time and property of a rebellion in Macedonia. Foreign representatives opposed to the interventions to be carried out on the independent structure and internal affairs of the organization. In fact, they were claimed to have a tendency to be independent of Bulgaria Principality since the early periods, but the organization could not follow an independent policy from Bulgarian governments. In 1902 and 1903, the organization was divided into right and left factions under the leadership of Hristo Matov and Yane Sandanski after the rebellions provoked by the Bulgarian Principality and the High Committee in the Ottoman Empire. While the right-wingers under Matov's leadership defended the idea of Macedonia and Edirne's unification with Bulgaria, the group gathered around Sandanski brought forward the idea of the Balkan federation with the influence of some socialist intellectuals.
