Abstract (EN)

In the post-Soviet period, the Russian Federation sought to position its position in the international system on the one hand, and on the other hand produced alternative policies in order not to lose its authority over the former Soviet Republics. However, the Baltic countries, who didn't want to experience their bitter experiences in the past, have already made their foreign policy choices with their independence towards the West. This orientation to the West required a certain integration process. Throughout history, the Baltic geography has played an important role for Russian society in relations with the West. Russian society's interest in the Baltic geography began during the Tsarist Russia period, increased its intensity duringi the Soviet Russia period, and the Russian Federation remained indifferent to the importance of the region. This study examines the EU and NATO membership processes for the integration of the Baltic countries with the West and their impact on Russian foreign policy. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explain the dynamic ongoing cooperation and competition situations in the context of the Baltic countries, Russian Federation, EU and NATO and to serve as a consistent guide for the future. Key Words: Baltic Countries, EU, NATO, Russian Federation
