Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study was conducted to determine the validity and reliability of the Coping Behavior Scale developed by John Stapleton (1983) to evaluate coping behaviors of individuals with alcohol use disorder when confronted with relapse. Method: The study consisted of 180 individuals diagnosed with alcohol use disorder according to DSM 5 criteria (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - 5), who were treated at Ege University Faculty of Medicine Department of Mental Health and Mental Disorders Drug Addiction Clinic. SPSS for Windows 15.0 package program was used for the interpretation and analysis of the data, and statistically significant p value was determined as p <0.05. The validity and reliability analyze were performed after the scale used in the study was translated and then approved to the owner of the scale. 30 patients who had previously participated in the study were re-administered to perform test-retest analysis after two weeks interval. Results: In order to determine the reliability of the scale, the internal consistency value of Cronbach Alpha was first calculated. As a result of these calculations, α = 0.92. Test-retest correlation analysis values; It was determined that it was distributed in the range of 0.171-0.883 (p <0.01). In our study, the scores obtained from the first and second applications were compared by t-test and it was found that there was no statistically significant difference between the scores (p =, 204) (p> 0.05).Kaiser Meyer-Olkin value and Barlett test were used to evaluate the validity of the scale and the scale was found to be applicable for factor analysis. As a result of factor analysis, three sub-dimensions were obtained. Factor values of these sub-dimensions were; 28.85, 36.97 and 42.26. Conclusion: Results which were obtained in this study suggests that the Turkish version of the BÇDÖ with three factor solution could be used as a reliable and valid instrument in determining severity of alcohol dependence.
