Abstract (EN)

Due to the game structure of basketball, the risk of injury is high due to overuse of arm and deltoid muscle groups. Damage to these muscles limits the performance ability of the athlete and may cause inadequacy in sports activity. In the rehabilitation process after injury, it is aimed to return the player to the field as soon as possible while being protected. In this context, in the study; In order to reduce deltoid muscle injuries in professional basketball players, it was aimed to prepare special exercises and therapeutic treatment methods and to investigate their effect levels. In the study, a special curriculum was prepared to rehabilitate the partial rupture of the deltoid muscle of professional basketball players in Iraq, and the effectiveness of the treatment methods in the study was examined. In the study, the activation of the shoulder deltoid muscle of basketball players was evaluated with QEMG and the strength of this activation was evaluated with an isokinetic dynamometer. A total of 21 male individuals with a mean age of 19.5±1.44 years participated in the study. The activations of the anterior and middle parts of the deltoid muscle were recorded with a quantitative EMG device while the participants made flexion and abduction movements in the shoulder joint with a five-week training program. Flexion and abduction movements were made gradually between 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 degrees. In addition, sit and reach, right and left hand grip strength tests, leg strength tests were applied to determine the physical fitness parameters of the athletes within the scope of therapeutic exercises. Considering the values in all ranges of motion in the EMG measurements performed in the first week after the training program, it was determined that the middle deltoid muscle activation value was higher for both movements of flexion and abduction. In addition, it was observed that the pre-test and post-test values of sit and reach test, right and left-hand grip strength test, leg strength tests increased as a result of the training program applied between the first and fifth weeks, and it was found to be statistically significant (p=0.005). It is understood that the applied training program is effective in the development of anterior deltoid muscles and it is thought that it will be effective in minimizing deltoid muscle injuries.
