Investigation of the effect of the network trout facility operating in Batman dam on the dam lake

The effect of trout farming in net cages on the aquatic environment was evaluated by conducting water quality studies at the net cage farm operating in Batman Dam Lake. Water samples were taken and analyzed for 10 months between October 2020 and July 2021. As the sampling point, 4 stations were determined as the reference point and close to the net cages where rainbow trout were done. As some physico-chemical parameters in the water samples taken from the sampling points during the study, both in situation and in the laboratory; Water temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, salinity, dissolved oxygen, saturated oxygen, nitrite nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, biochemical oxygen demand, secci depth, total phosphorus and suspended solids were measured. As a result of the study, it was observed that rise in pollution which is significant but not dangerous with water quality criterias in the amount of nitrite nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, total phosphorus and suspended solids measured in the 10-month period before and after the harvest of the industry operating in dam lake.The results of this study are also very important for the management of net cage fish farms operating in dam lakes in Turkey and for sustainable net cage fisheries.
